No app to install: VR and AR run in the browser on supported devices. The 3D view only shows options your device can actually use.

Before you start

  • A supported headset or phone (see the table below), signed in to HomeDesigner.io in its browser.
  • A secure (https) connection to the site; VR and AR don't run on plain http.

VR isn't available on iPhone or iPad, and AR isn't available on desktop computers.

Walk through in VR

  1. Open the design in your headset's browser (sign in there) and switch to 3D.
  2. Choose View in VR. The button only appears when a headset is available.
  3. You start standing on the current floor at true scale.
  4. Teleport: point a controller at the floor, hold the trigger to aim (a ring marks the spot) and release to jump there.
  5. Press the headset's menu or system button to leave VR. You return to the same 3D view.

Place furniture in your room (AR)

  1. Select an item in the design (or choose AR / VR in the 3D view and pick any item, including catalog items).
  2. Android (Chrome): choose Start AR, point your phone at the floor until a ring appears, then tap to place the item at its real size. Use Rotate to turn it and Move to place it again; Exit AR or the back gesture ends the session.
  3. iPhone/iPad (Safari): choose Prepare AR model, then View in your room (AR). Apple's AR Quick Look opens; move and rotate the item with your fingers. You can also send the Whole floor at true size.
  4. On a computer: scan the QR code with your phone to open the same item there (you'll need to sign in on the phone).

Common problems

  • No "View in VR" button. The browser didn't report a VR headset. Use the headset's built-in browser, or connect a PC VR headset and use Chrome or Edge. The AR / VR panel explains what your device supports.
  • AR says it needs a compatible phone. On Android, install Google Play Services for AR and use Chrome; on iPhone use Safari (not an in-app browser).
  • The item never appears. Move the phone slowly over a textured, well-lit floor until the ring appears.
  • The QR code doesn't open on my phone. The link points to this site's address; it won't work for a local development server.
