On this page

Ask HomeDesigner.io answers questions about using the app from this help center. Every answer links to the articles it used, so you can check the details yourself.

Before you start

  • Nothing to set up. The assistant is on the help center home page, at the end of every article, on the Help & support page in the app, and in the editor under Help → Ask the assistant.
  • Signed-in members of a workspace that has turned off external AI processing can't use it (see "Privacy" below). Search and support still work.

Steps

  1. Type your question in your own words, for example "How do I print my plan to scale?", and press Enter. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
  2. Read the answer. Article names shown as small links are its sources; select one to open the full article.
  3. Ask a follow-up if you need more detail. The assistant remembers the last few messages of this conversation only.
  4. Rate the answer with the thumbs buttons. Choosing "not helpful" lets you add an optional comment for our docs team.
  5. Still stuck? Choose Contact support. The support form opens with your question and the assistant's answer filled in, so you don't have to type it again. Edit anything before sending.
  6. Choose Clear to start a new conversation.

What it can and can't do

  • It answers only from the help center. If the articles don't cover your question, it says "I don't know" and points you to support instead of guessing.
  • It can't see or change your account, workspace, subscription, seats, invoices, projects or designs, and it can't contact anyone for you. To change something, follow the steps it links to, or ask a person.
  • It doesn't give legal, tax, structural, building-code or permit advice, and it can't promise refunds or prices beyond what the articles say. The pricing article and our team are the authority on billing.
  • It can be wrong. Check important details in the linked articles. Answers that weren't helpful are reviewed by our docs team.
  • In the editor it knows which tool you're using, so "how do I set the length?" is answered for that tool. It doesn't see your plan.

Privacy

  • Your question, the last few messages of the conversation and the relevant help articles are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to write the answer. Your questions are not used to train AI models.
  • We don't keep a copy of the conversation. We do log the question text (with email addresses and long numbers masked) and whether the help center had an answer, without your name or account, so we can see which topics need better articles.
  • If you rate an answer, the rating and your optional comment are stored with your account (when signed in) so we can follow up. For unhelpful answers we also keep the answer text.
  • Never type passwords, two-factor or backup codes, or card numbers. The assistant will never ask for them, and neither will our team.
  • Opt out: workspace owners and admins can turn off external AI processing in Workspace settings → Privacy. The assistant, layout assistant and automatic blueprint detection are then unavailable for that workspace's members. See AI layout assistant.

Fair use

To keep the service responsive, signed-in people can ask about 30 questions every 10 minutes. Visitors who aren't signed in complete a quick human check with each question and have a lower limit. If you hit a limit, wait a few minutes or contact us.

Common problems

  • "The assistant isn't configured on this server." This installation has no AI provider set up. Use search or contact support instead.
  • "External AI processing is turned off for your current workspace." Ask an owner or admin, or switch to another workspace.
  • The answer doesn't match what I see. Check the article's "Last reviewed" date and tell us with the thumbs-down button.
