Group items

Group furniture so it moves, rotates, copies and locks as one: a dining set, a kitchen run, a desk setup.

Groups keep arrangements together. Move a dining table and its six chairs in one drag, or rotate a whole desk setup about its centre.

Before you start

  • Edit access to the design and at least two items on the same floor.

Steps

  1. Select the items: Shift-click each one, or drag a box around them.
  2. Press Mod+G, or choose Group these items in the inspector or Group in the right-click menu.
  3. Click any item in the group to select the whole group, on the plan or in 3D. Drag to move it, and use Rotate 90° (Shift+R) to turn the whole group about its centre.
  4. Rename the group or Lock group in the inspector. Locking a group locks every item in it.
  5. To change one item, double-click it (or choose Edit items one by one). Click outside the group to leave it.
  6. Press Mod+D to copy a group. The copies form a new group.
  7. Press Mod+Shift+G or choose Ungroup to split it up again. Every item stays where it is.

Groups in the object list

Open Objects in the left rail. Groups are listed under Groups; choose one to select all its items. Grouped items show their group's name, and choosing an item there selects just that item.

Good to know

  • Groups don't nest. Grouping items that are already in a group moves them into the new one.
  • Deleting items from a group keeps the rest grouped; a group with one item left is dissolved.
  • Undo (Mod+Z) reverses grouping and ungrouping like any other change.
