Imagine you want to open up a closed kitchen into the living room. This tutorial shows how to communicate that change clearly.
Before you start
- Measurements of the existing rooms (see Measure a room by hand).
- About 30 minutes.
Steps
- Draw the existing layout. Draw the rooms as they are today, including the wall you want to remove.
- Mark it as existing. Select everything (press Mod+A) and set Phase → Existing in the inspector. Existing elements display in a softer colour.
- Save a version named "Existing" (Mod+S).
- Mark demolition. Select the wall to remove and set Phase → Demolish. It shows dashed in red, and its openings are flagged too.
- Add the new work. Draw new walls, an island or a wider opening. New items default to Proposed.
- Check it. Open the Issues panel to make sure new furniture clears door swings and walkways.
- Export. Export a PDF to scale; the legend explains existing, demolition and proposed line styles.
Common problems
- Demolished wall still divides the room in 3D. Demolition elements are shown for communication; switch the 3D view to "Proposed only" to see the result.
