Clearance checks and collisions
How the issues panel finds overlapping furniture, blocked door swings and tight walkways — and why it's guidance, not a compliance check.

Catch layout problems early: furniture that overlaps, doors that can't open fully and walkways that feel tight.
Before you start
- A furnished room. The checks run automatically as you edit.
What gets checked
| Check | Type |
|---|---|
| Furniture overlapping other furniture | Collision — physically impossible |
| Furniture going through a wall | Collision |
| A door swing hitting an item | Collision |
| Too little space in front of appliances and storage | Advisory guidance |
| Narrow walkways between tall items | Advisory guidance (uses your passage setting) |
Steps
- Open the Issues panel at the bottom of the editor. Each issue names the items involved.
- Select an issue to highlight the affected objects on the plan. Markers use both colour and an icon, so they don't rely on colour alone.
- Fix it — move, rotate or resize an item, or change a door's swing.
- To change the walkway threshold, open Project settings → Checks and set the minimum passage width (default 36″ / 914 mm) and door clearance (default 30″ / 762 mm).
Common problems
- A rug is flagged. Rugs, wall-mounted and ceiling items are ignored for collisions; if one is flagged, check it isn't a floor item with a rug-like name.
- Too many advisories. Reduce the passage setting for tight spaces such as galley kitchens, or accept the advice consciously — advisories never block saving or exporting.
