We want everyone to be able to plan their home. Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA for the interface around the canvas. Read our accessibility statement for formal details.
Before you start
- Set your preferred theme in the account menu and reduced motion in your operating system settings; we follow both.
What's supported
- Keyboard: every page and menu is keyboard operable with visible focus. In the editor you can select items, move them by exact steps, edit sizes and rotation by typing, and delete — without a mouse. See Keyboard shortcuts.
- Screen readers: forms and controls are labelled. In the editor, use the inspector to read and change exact properties of the selected item rather than relying on the visual canvas.
- Reduced motion: if your system asks for reduced motion, we turn off animations.
- Themes and contrast: light and dark themes (or follow your system), with colour contrast designed to meet AA. Issues and warnings use icons and text as well as colour.
- Zoom and text size: pages reflow at 200% zoom and larger text sizes.
- Touch: large touch targets and handles on tablets and phones.
Steps: work in the editor by keyboard
- Press Tab to move between the top bar, tool rail, canvas and inspector.
- On the canvas, choose a tool with its letter key (e.g. R for rooms).
- Move the selection with arrow keys; type exact sizes in the inspector.
- Press Esc to cancel and Delete to remove.
Known limitations
- Drawing new free-form shapes is primarily a pointer activity; typed dimensions in the inspector are the accessible alternative for setting exact sizes.
- The visual canvas itself does not expose every wall and item to screen readers as a structured list yet. We're working on a full object tree.
- 3D views are visual; key information (dimensions, areas, materials) is available in 2D, the inspector and exported schedules.
