Plan a whole house — basement to top floor — with stairs that connect levels. There's no limit on the number of floors.

Before you start

  • A project with at least the ground floor drawn.

Add a floor

  1. Open the floor switcher (top of the canvas) and choose Add floor.
  2. Choose whether it goes above or below the current floor and give it a name, e.g. "Upstairs" or "Basement".
  3. Optionally copy walls from an existing floor as a starting point. Copied walls are independent: future edits don't propagate between floors.
  4. Set the floor-to-floor height in the floor settings. Elevations update in 3D.

Add stairs

  1. Choose Stairs in the tool rail (advanced mode shows it in the main rail; in beginner mode use Mod+K → "stairs").
  2. Place the stair, then set width, length, number of risers and shape (straight, L-shaped, U-shaped or spiral).
  3. Choose which floor the stair leads to so 3D shows it connecting the levels.

Roofs

Open Roof & site in the left rail and choose a gable, hip, shed or flat roof for the floor it sits on (usually the top floor). It follows the outside of your walls; set the pitch (degrees or 6/12), overhang, ridge direction and roofing. To look inside from above, hide roofs with the Roof button in 3D or use Cutaway. See Add a roof.

Common problems

  • Upstairs walls don't line up. Use the previous floor as a faint reference overlay, or copy walls from it and adjust.
  • The stair looks too steep. Increase the stair length or the number of risers; the 3D view shows the result immediately.
